COBRA OPTM METALWOODS:
ACCURACY, REDEFINED

Distance has dominated driver conversations for years. Forgiveness followed. But accuracy, true accuracy downrange, has often been treated as a by-product rather than a design goal.
WEBCobraOPTM

The new OPTM metalwood family from Cobra Golf is built around a different priority. By focusing on how the clubhead rotates through impact, not just how resistant it is to twisting, Cobra is targeting tighter dispersion and more predictable outcomes across the face. This is accuracy approached from a new angle.

Why POI matters

Most golfers are familiar with MOI, moment of inertia, which measures how stable a clubhead is on off-centre strikes. Higher MOI generally means more forgiveness when impact drifts away from the centre.

OPTM introduces a second, equally important consideration: POI, Product of Inertia.

POI looks at how the clubhead rotates diagonally across all axes at once. In practical terms, a high POI head can still be very forgiving but may create excessive gear effect on certain strikes, producing shots that start or curve more than expected. A lower POI allows the head to rotate more naturally with the swing, reducing unwanted directional deviation.

Cobra’s goal with OPTM is not to replace MOI, but to balance it. Increase stability while reducing three-dimensional twisting. The result is tighter dispersion and improved accuracy downrange.

SHAPING AND WEIGHTING, WORKING TOGETHER

Achieving lower POI is not about a single feature. It’s the result of shaping, mass placement, and weighting working together.
OPTM drivers use more rounded head shapes to centre the CG, combined with AI-optimised POI shaping and Adaptive POI weighting. External weights are positioned in new locations to minimise diagonal rotation while maintaining forgiveness across the face.
This design approach allows Cobra to fine-tune how the head behaves through impact rather than simply adding mass to increase stability.

“WHAT STANDS OUT WITH OPTM IS HOW DIRECTIONAL THE MISSES ARE. YOU STILL GET SPEED AND FORGIVENESS, BUT SHOTS DON’T FLARE OR OVERCORRECT AS MUCH. DISPERSION TIGHTENS, ESPECIALLY ON THE STRIKES GOLFERS HIT MOST OFTEN.”

FOUR DRIVER MODELS, FOUR CLEAR INTENTS

The OPTM family is built around clearly defined player profiles rather than one-size-fits-all adjustability.

  • OPTM LS: A tour-inspired profile designed for faster swingers seeking lower spin and maximum workability, with multiple moveable weights for fine-tuning.
  • OPTM X: A balanced, tour-preferred shape offering a blend of speed, forgiveness, and adjustability for a wide range of players.
  • OPTM MAX-K: The most forgiving model in the range, featuring an oversized profile and rear weighting to maximise MOI and stability.
  • OPTM MAX-D: Designed for players who benefit from draw bias and slice correction, with heel weighting and a lightweight build to support straighter ball flight.

Each model applies the same POI principles, but with a different emphasis depending on player needs.

Adjustability without compromise

All OPTM drivers feature Cobra’s FUTUREFIT33™ hosel, offering 33 independent loft and lie combinations. Rather than forcing golfers into preset adjustments, FUTUREFIT33 allows loft and lie to be tuned separately, making it easier to dial in launch, start line, and curvature without altering feel or balance.
This level of adjustability supports both fitting environments and on-range experimentation, without adding complexity to the head itself

SPEED STILL MATTERS

While accuracy is the headline, OPTM doesn’t ignore speed. A forged face insert with H.O.T. Face Technology uses variable thickness across 15 distinct zones to maintain ball speed on off-centre strikes. Combined with a lightweight carbon crown and titanium frame, OPTM delivers robust speed across the face while supporting the accuracy gains created by POI-focused design. The goal is not maximum distance at all costs, but usable speed that holds up across a full round.

FAIRWAYS AND HYBRIDS BUILT ON THE SAME IDEA

The OPTM story doesn’t stop with drivers.

The fairway and hybrid lineup carries the same design philosophy forward, with Adaptive POI weighting, FUTUREFIT33 adjustability, and H.O.T. Face technology applied to shapes designed for versatility, launch, and consistency from a variety of lies.

LS, X, and MAX fairway options cover the full spectrum from low-spin speed to maximum forgiveness, while OPTM hybrids feature a slightly larger profile and shallower face to support easier launch and predictable trajectories.

Where OPTM fits

OPTM is for golfers who care about where the ball finishes, not just how far it goes.

Players who already generate speed but struggle with dispersion, directional misses, or unpredictable gear effect will see the biggest benefits. By addressing how the head rotates through impact, OPTM offers a more refined approach to accuracy without sacrificing forgiveness.

Available at PARZ

The Cobra OPTM metalwood family is available for fitting and pre-sale from January 13, with full retail availability from January 20. If accuracy has been the missing piece at the top of your bag, OPTM is worth exploring.
